This Night (Poem)

Waking to a system that favors privilege,
A chance of fate is equal to success.
Birth’s an obligation, life’s a struggle,
Consume the day, steps closer to our death

Hear me now, I wanna break away
Been such a long delay, in finding my place
The hour’s gone, and I can’t see my hands
I hope you understand, this night has no plans

Floating to the corner store for some cigarettes
Lines of stress turned down to fit the fad
Warmth behind the dark clouds, time to look around
And feel the loss of what you never had.

Hear me now, I wanna break away
Been such a long delay, in finding my place
The hour’s gone, and I can’t see my hands
I hope you understand, this night has no plans

The door is open, step outside
And read the words written high up in the sky.
The door is open, step outside
Ain’t goin’ see it working 9 to 5.

Why survive
Tides so high Noah’s ark can’t pass
Tall years standing sentry
Bar a dark ass past
We’ve been bolting from forever
Like Usain’s fast ass towards
A populace that’s sick
Of being dead ass last

The outcast
Outlasting all the big ass brands and
Making stands and bringing retro back
Like big brass bands
Man, the man inside my mind
Don’t even passing understand
Why all these struggling people
Don’t just raise up their goddamn hands and scream

Hear me now, I wanna break away
From all these long delays, in finding my place
The hour’s gone, and I can’t see my hands
I hope you understand, this night has no plans.
